Camera Settings
In order to get good pictures out from your
camera, you need to understand on how to control it first. Things are a
bit easier for compact digital cameras as photo shooting is mostly taken
care of by the auto mode. However for a DSLR cameras, there are in fact
a number of setting to take care of.
First you will need to read through the manual
provided by each DSLR system. Before we learn how to change on the
setting, we will need to know where is the buttons located in order to
make the necessary setting.
The setting that we changes on most frequently
would be the aperture setting and shutter speed setting. Then we still
look into the ISO setting and exposure compensation in order to get a
photo that is expose correctly. Then there is still a couple more
settings that we will need to get ourselves familiar with.

-
Camera
Aperture -
Aperture is the size of the opening of
camera which allows lights to go into. The larger the aperture
size means more light goes into the sensor and the smaller the
aperture size means the fewer amount of light goes into the
camera.
-
Camera
Shutter Speed -
Shutter speed is the time the camera
sensor is expose to light when taking a photo. The larger the
shutter speed means the longer the sensor is exposed to light.
-
Camera Metering and Exposure -
Exposure is the amount of light
hitting on the camera sensor and it is calculated in EV unit.
Metering is how the camera works to measure the amount of light in
the scene and in order to show the correct EV value.
-
Camera Exposure Compensation - Finished setting on all the aperture,
shutter speed and ISO and yet the camera still metered it wrongly
with different exposure than what you expect. Then you will need to
change on the exposure manually with exposure compensation.

-
Camera Focus
- Ever have problem with photos that are
out of focus? Intended subject is blurred while other become clear.
Auto focus system is fitted in most digital camera nowadays and it
basically do all the focusing job. However, there are still time
when auto focus just won't work and we need to know why and how to
overcome it.
-
Focusing
-
Other aspects of an image may be perfect, but if it is out of focus by
even a small amount, the resulting photograph may be useless.
-
Zone focusing -Zone focusing uses depth of field controls to
establish a zone of sharpness in which any subject can be photographed
without further attention to focusing.
-
Selective Focusing - With selective focus the goal is not to
eliminate focusing, but to compress depth of field to a point where the
subject will stand out sharply against a soft background.
-
Depth of Field
-
Why some photos have blurry background
whereas some photos are clear and sharp in whole? It is all about
the depth of field of the setting.
-
More about Depth of Field -
When you focus your lens on an object, everything at exactly that
distance from the camera is in focus, while everything not at that
distance is, to some degree, out of focus.
-
Tips on controlling depth of field
-
Three ways to control depth of field: change f-stop, change focal
length of lens, change camera position.
-
Shallow depth of field with kit lens - Can we get good photos from
just using kit lens? Yes, although there will be a lot of constrains,
kit lens still perform fairly well provided we have the knowledge about
how to use it.
-
Camera composition
- Composition plays an important part in
photography. The same scenario, same subject and same time but with
different angles and composition will produce a totally different
result. How we compose a photos nicely will show how well the picture
can actually be.

How to compose better pictures?
-
Magnification
-Do you want your subject to fill the frame and dominate the picture, or
do you want it presented as merely a part of its surroundings?
-
Perspective
-Perspective simply means how foreground objects appear in relation to
those objects farther back in a scene - relative size, relative
position and relative importance.
-
Finding the right place to take photos -
Good pictures can actually be found everywhere. You just need to look
carefully, pay extra attention and creative for different angles and
perspective.

Camera Flash
Photography -
Plan to take some indoor wedding
photographs? Taking photo in low light situation? Flash will bring
an all new level in low light camera photography
-
How to use flash - Flash is an important companion for every DSLR
camera. With the available of flash, we can makes different types of
photography with unexpected result. However, how do we use the flash in
the correct way?

How to control lighting in camera photography?
-
Controlling the image in photography
-
How to make object more prominent - In photography, we must always
let peoples know what is the main subject in the photos and what is the
purpose of the photos.
-
How to put extra impact into your photos?
-
Taking photos against the light. - Taking photos against the light,
sometimes produce dramatic effect but fire you will need to know how to
do right in the first place.
-
Achieving good image quality
-
The most important aspects of image quality for anyone. If they are
constantly kept in mind and improved upon, quality of an image will
automatically get better.
-
Photographing in cloudy day
-
Simple snap shots with camera - Photo shooting is always about capture the
moment that we want for sweet memories.
-
Camera Sensor
-
What are the types of camera sensors?
How does it capture lights and transfer it into photos?
-
Camera Sensor Pixel - We always sees a
trend in camera sold nowadays. The higher the megapixels spec, the
higher the price. But what is the megapixels things all about?
-
Camera Sensitivity
-
How sensitive is the camera sensor to
lights? High sensitivity setting works great in low light
environment but it also brings noise to the photo. Low sensitivity
setting have low noise but is tough to use in low light surrounding.
-
Camera Histogram
- Histogram will show how much
exposure is the photos. With this information, we can change our
composition of the photos or play around with the exposure to get
the desire photo.
-
Color Temperature
-
Camera Cares
-
Camera Lenses Care and
Protection -To get the best from your lenses, you must treat them like respected
friends.
-
Tips about using Lens Care Kits
-For field work, and especially when travelling, take along a lens care
kit for maintenance or emergencies.
-
More things to know about camera
-
How Camera works - We talk about
basic about camera, how to
use a camera, how to control all the setting and which lens and
equipment to use in different situation. However, do we ever take note
on how camera actually functions?
-
Common mistake in photographing - Some
common mistakes that we make during photographing. Most of the time we
