  • His movements are mostly reflex responses — uncoordinated and negative movements such as 'jumping' at a sudden loud noise. Food is his main concern. He gets angry if he is kept waiting for it, secure and contented when he has had it. But his mouth is also his principal means of learning about things. He explores with his mouth, thinks with his mouth and expresses his feelings with his mouth.
     

  • Photography at this stage is mostly confined to the conventional record shot, christening-gowned and lying on a shawl. But close-ups taken with the camera looking down from a high angle are often effective. Some infants smile for the first time at about a month. He is fascinated by lights, amused by squeaks and sometimes smiles if you run your finger lightly round his lips.
