Configurations of Camera Filter

Filters come in four basic forms and can be purchased or cut in round, square, rectangular, or odd shapes on special order. The four configurations are as follows:

  1. Thin, square gelatin filters that require a holder and lens adaptor.

  2. Number series sized round glass filters needing a retainer and lens adaptor to fit onto a lens.

  3. Threaded glass or plastic filters that screw directly onto the front of a lens.

  4. Plastic or resin squares that fit a holder and a screw in the lens adaptor.
